Dress at shows can sometimes be a little confusing, even if you use the Rule Book as a guideline.  You will be suitably dressed for dressage, showing and show jumping classes if you wear the following:

1. A black, dark blue or dark brown helmet with a non-detachable three-point  harness  or a black or dark blue cover for your skull cap. Your helmet needs to comply with recognised International EN, PAS or ASTM standards.

2. Breeches or jodhpurs must be white, beige, cream or canary.

3. A short or long sleeved white shirt (or shirt of a pale colour) with collar. In non-grading competitions, white HAK Polo shirts may be worn without neckwear.

4. Stock or tie

5. Tweed, black or blue jacket; Black or blue may be worn for dressage and show jumping, but tweed (for Children) is the best all-rounder.

6. Black boots – it is preferred that children wear short jodhpur boots

7. Smooth Leather Gaiters can be worn with jodphur boots, but not half chaps

Tack and equipment for your horse is specified in the Rule Book. Remember to remove any equine boots and martingales before entering the dressage arena and for all showing classes, apart from the working hunter when the same tack must be used in both phases, with the exception of boots.

For Events, Cross country and Hunter Trials you need the following:

1. Any colour shirt with sleeves. Polo shirts maybe worn.

2. A stock

3. Skull cap with ‘silk’ (cover any colour) which complies with recognised International EN, PAS or ASTM standards, without a fixed, hard or detachable peak.

4. Black boots

5. A body protector

6. Correct Medical Arm-Band

7. Your correct bib number

Your horse’s tack should include a surcingle, breastplate and adequate protection for its legs.
